SalesVu is thrilled to be assisting Texas HOPE Literacy (THL)! THL is the leading volunteer literacy program in Texas prisons and has helped thousands of offenders improve their academic levels and earn their GED; many demonstrated learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADD and ADHD. The HOPE Community Reintegration models for state prisons and county jails provide structured environments where inmates live and work together in cities, neighborhoods, work places and families. THL is the first peer-driven program in Texas prisons and as a result of their success, House Bill 28 became a law in May of 2003, giving inmates the right to tutor. Today, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has the largest peer driven program in the nation because of HOPE.
THL does conferences and presentations while accepting donations. Founder Lucy Smith heard about SalesVu’s iPad POS through her cosmetologist.
“I was extremely impressed when she showed me all the features,” said Smith.
At the time, Smith was preparing for a conference and wanted the capability of accepting donations. Previously, she had not used a POS system but had used PayPal some amount. Smith also considered Square but says SalesVu “far exceeded it,” particularly because of SalesVu’s features and ability to connect to QuickBooks.
“Overall, [SalesVu] is very user friendly. The night before using it at a conference, I learned how to take credit cards in less than an hour,” said Smith. “I was able to learn it without having to read copious instructions. I just figured it out..So easy!”
