Why SalesVu iPad POS System Beat Out the Competition at Partners Bar and Grill

partners-logo-nbh-outline-shadow

Partners Bar and Grill (PBG) is a small establishment near downtown Huntsville, AL. PBG opened in 2007 but is now under new management.

PBG needed an mPOS solution because it reduces their costs and complexity compared to the traditional solution they were using (Sharp cash registers with “poorly implemented PLU system” and stand-alone credit card terminal).

“Being able to use an off-the-shelf Apple iPad made more sense than having a large, clunky, proprietary hardware to contend with,” said James Mazikowski, owner of Partners. Also, with our outdoor patio bar, a mobile POS solution seemed like the way to go in terms of being able to bring the equipment inside in inclement weather or when we close.”

When switching from Sharp’s traditional cash registers to an up-to-date mPOS, PBG also considered Square, NCR Silver, Shopkeep and POS Lavu.

“I decided SalesVu’s iPad POS would be the best fit for us due to the fact that credit card processing fees were below those of the competition and there was no monthly fee,” said Mazikowski. “SalesVu’s rich cloud based management and reporting interface were also strong points that affected my decisions.”

Mazikowski likes the ability to make changes to products in seconds; he can change prices, add discounts or create a new product without ever getting in the way of the bartenders.

“I love the powerful reporting features,” said Mazikowski. “Before, we had to keep track of different sales categories manually for tax purposes, whereas SalesVu allows us to call up a report for a certain category whenever we need it!”

F-Town Longboards Using SalesVu iPad POS System to Bring Longboarding to Arkansas

Screen Shot 2013-08-20 at 11.14.18 AM

F-Town Longboards (FTL) is the first pure longboard store in Arkansas, founded in 2012 after two cousins discovered longboarding in Southern California. They saw the sport spreading across the country and realized that there was no place dedicated to longboarding in Northwest Arkansas. Local riders wanted to bring longboarding to their town; so they did.

“Riders want access to all the cool, quality gear: wheels, bushings, trucks, dominoesso we opened our store,” said Owner Kevin Higgins.

F-Town is located in Fayetteville where they are growing their lineup every week and are “super stoked to be [in business] among one of the coolest sporting communities out there.”

“We want to see longboarding grow rapidly and help educate the community on the sport,” said Higgins.

Higgins was using a free invoicing system for PC called Express Invoicing when he decided an iPhone POS would be better suited for FTL.

“We used Square for credit card processing and looked at some other systems but none of them appeared to give us everything we get from SalesVu for the cost,” said Higgins.

FTL needs an mPOS because they do local events in their community but they also wanted a small POS that was very powerful.

Higgins loves SalesVu for the “reports, inventory and the the html code which allows [them] to offer an online store at some point.”

SalesVu iPad POS System Over Square at Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar

SalesVu In Action

Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar (BB) has just adopted SalesVu’s iPad POS! BB, a Spicewood, Tx diner and bar, serves burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. Their bacon theme extends to the menu items, including drinks such as the Bacon Bloody Mary.

When BB was starting up they looked into Square and SalesVu. They compared the features of the two solutions and one major difference was that Square does not offer the ability to keep open tabs, a mandatory feature for BB. Additionally, they were given a walk through demonstration in a real time environment to see firsthand how SalesVu’s iPad POS could benefit their business.

“We needed an mPOS for indoor and outdoor dining, mainly,” said BB Owner Jennifer Halpine. “Also, we thought it looked really cool to have the waitstaff creating order tickets on iPod Touch and iPad devices. Plus, the ability for the customer to sign the mobile device and have the receipt emailed to them was appealing to us.”

We’re so happy to have Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar using our iPad POS! If you’re interested in going to BB, you can check in on Foursquare, tweet them @BriarcliffBistro or view some of their delicious menu items on Pinterest: BriarcliffBacon.

Check Out How SalesVu iPad POS System Works For Studios

IMG_5814

Grates Cove Studios (GCS) is a husband-and-wife owned business in Grates Cove, the northerly-most point of Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula. GCS offers finely crafted wood products and designs as well as co-owner Terrence Howell’s artwork. GCS accommodates artists, provides studio space, onsite hosts and art facilitation to support artists’ work. The Grates Cove Studios cafe opened this summer and is offering Newfoundland, Cajun and Asian-inspired meals. Additionally, it now accommodates travelers in its three bedroom vacation home.

GCS came across SalesVu’s iPad POS when intensely researching merchant systems. Prior to adopting SalesVu, they used Elavon’s virtual merchant system. GCS also considered Square at the time.

“We chose SalesVu because of the competitive merchant rates and because of the POS System that came with the account,” said GCS Co-Owner Courtney Howell.

GCS does business in their main building in Grates Cove, at trade shows throughout the year and online. The different sales locations gave them the need for an mPOS.

“We needed a professional, portable merchant system and point of sale system that could accommodate our sales wherever we do business,” said Howell.

“I love that my customers enjoy the checkout process; having a point of sale application on our iPad here in rural Newfoundland is not something that our customers expect,” said Howell. “I also really appreciate SalesVu’s customer service. I trust that when we need assistance, someone will be able to assist me during our business hours either by phone or email; the response has been very prompt and thorough.”

Welcome to SalesVu iPad POS System, Falcon Ridge Farm

Falcon Ridge Farm (FRF) is a family owned and operated farm in Tennesse that specializes in high quality fruits and vegetables as well as family entertainment. FRF produces over 30 different fruits and vegetables including: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and sweet corn. They recently began a Community Supported Agriculture program where families can join and receive a box of fresh fruits and vegetables every week. FRF also has an annual Fall Festival that boasts a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and hayrides. Throughout the year, they have activities such as Easter egg hunts and choose-and-cut Christmas trees.

Falcon Ridge heard about SalesVu from a friend in the same line of work who used and was pleased with SalesVu’s iPad POS. Prior to SalesVu, FRF used “cheap” cash registers purchased from Sam’s Club. Owner Bart Gilmer also considered Shopkeep’s POS system but SalesVu was cheaper and came highly recommended.

Gilmer needed an mPOS in order to maintain better records, flexibility and ease of use.

“We use a lot of seasonal employees, therefore our employee turnover rate is very high,” said Gilmer. “I really needed a system that anybody could learn to operate in a matter of minutes.”

“My favorite thing about SalesVu is that it is easy to operate,” said Gilmer. “Anyone that can use an iPhone or iPad can learn to use it in a very, very short time. I also like the ability to generate accurate reports and easily edit and update the system. This is important because with the old registers there were very few people that could operate it correctly, which made staffing very difficult. Also, the reports enable me to run a more efficient business.”

eneRGy Photoart Adopts the SalesVu iPad POS System

At eneRGy Photoart and Seductions Boudoir (EPSB), clients can preserve their passions and special moments by creating artistic expression through digital art and photography. EPSB also teaches their clients basic photography skills.

Owner Randy Goertzen meets portrait customers in their home, his home office, at trade shows and on location; this variety gave him the need to have access to a POS system in multiple situations. Goertzen used a combination of PayPal and Intuit GoPayment before adopting the SalesVu iPad POS. He had also looked into Square but did not receive the level of customer support that he was in need of.

“I chose SalesVu because I really like the interface of the iPad and iPhone apps, especially without a big investment or large minimum charge, which is important for a small business,” said Goertzen.

“My favorite thing about SalesVu iPad POS is the personalized POS interface so that I can easily and efficiently choose my products, add individual items, add a discount, add personal notes and whatever other information I need to all at one source,” he said.

SalesVu’s iPad POS System Provides Mason City Brewing with Unmatched Inventory Tracking and Reporting

The Company

Mason City Brewing (MCB) is Mason City, Iowa’s first brewery in over 130 years. MCB operates with a 1 BBL brew system and has a 24 BBL fermentation capacity. The onsite taproom seats 65 people and features eight of MCB’s beers on tap at all times.

“We focus on brewing a range of styles that will satisfy everyone from the craft beer novice to professionals,” said Owner Justin Merritt.

The Needs

MCB needed a POS system that was flexible enough to support their business and wouldn’t tie them down to a “traditional-style register” as they will be participating in events outside the taproom.

The SalesVu Decision

Before adopting SalesVu’s iPad POS, MCB looked at Intuit GoPayment, Square, Intuit POS, LightSpeed and Prosperity. They also demoed traditional POS systems before they “found and fell in love with the simplicity of SalesVu.”

“Ultimately, we chose SalesVu’s restaurant POS because it allowed us to create our own menu structure and item setup, provided some of the market’s lowest fees and offered the best online management options,” said Merritt.

MCB’s favorite thing about SalesVu is the ability to track the ounces of beer sold by beer type. As a brewery, this helps them create a production plan and provides MCB with the information they need to calculate taxes owed.

“We needed an iPad POS solution that provided this ability in the easiest way possible for the bartender, so that he wouldn’t fumble with the register rather than serve customers,” said Merritt. “SalesVu gave us just this with the ability to create different product levels and attach components to those levels. Selling a beer is as easy as two taps of the finger and we get all the tracking data we need on the backend.”

Another important feature that influenced the SalesVu decision is the ability to run tabs. According to MCB, SalesVu is one of the only retail POS applications they found that allows you to keep multiple orders open at a time and authorize a credit card on the order, this way, the business doesn’t have to hold on to the customer’s card.

“This helps immensely because we can offer our customers the convenience of running a tab (giving the customer the peace of mind of not leaving their credit card with a stranger) and comforts the business as they won’t have to eat any tabs left open,” said Merritt.

The Results

SalesVu has helped Mason City Brewing simplify in-store checkout and the order management process; it also has provided a level of sales reporting that they didn’t think they would be able to get.

”It allows us to understand which of our eight beers are in the highest demand and get a sense for the reception of new beers when we launch them,” said Merritt.

According to Merritt, MCB has saved thousands of dollars by adopting SalesVu.

“We save with every transaction when compared to Intuit GoPayment or Square and we saved significant costs upfront when compared to more traditional POS solutions like Intuit POS, LightSpeed or Prosperity.

Lastly, since SalesVu gives MCB all the reporting they need, they were able to simplify their accounting and record just the total sales and total inventory change into Quickbooks (using Quickbooks online without the SalesVu integration).

“SalesVu eliminated the need for a complicated Quickbooks setup and having all the detailed data in Quickbooks,” said Merritt.
