How did SalesVu iPad POS System make this business owner’s job easier?

Chillin’ Peppers (CP) is a specialty store and “hot sauce heaven” that sells everything spicy.

When CP opened in May 2013, they looked into Square but chose SalesVu’s iPad POS as “it seemed more complete for their type of business and had good online reviews for customer service.”

Chillin’ Peppers has a modern look so I needed a modern POS,” said CP Owner Daniela Saraiva.

“My favorite thing about SalesVu is the different ways to get the reports; it’s thorough and it makes my job a lot easier,” said Saraiva. “I also love the customer service.”

Their favorite thing about SalesVu is the simplicity “to configure, use and train others on the app.”

Configuring Printers in SalesVu

Printer Types

Local Area Network/Ethernet printers:

  • Star Micronics TSP143LAN or TSP654LAN

    • Require that the printer be plugged into a wireless router and the iOS device (iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone, iPod Touch), Android phone or tablet be connected to that wireless router through the WiFi signal that the wireless router is broadcasting.

    • For customers that are mobile (i.e. food trucks), we would recommend a USB modem and a cradlepoint router.

    • If you have multiple payment devices and multiple printers, these printers are the only way to go as the Bluetooth ones can only connect to one device.

Bluetooth printers:

  • Star Micronics TSP654II-BT (desktop Bluetooth printer) or SM-S220i (battery powered printer)

    • These printers are paired to one device (i.e. 1 iPad can only connect to 1 printer   and that printer can only be connected to 1 iPad).

    • These printers are ideal for mobile businesses or businesses that only need 1 payment device and 1 printer.

Printer Features

Receipt Printer

  • You can choose to print a receipt at the end of a transaction or before a transaction is closed.
  • Multiple iPads can sync with the same printer (only with LAN/Ethernet printers).
  • Ability to manage and adjust tips on printed receipts with the SalesVu app

Kitchen Printer

  • Organize where you want orders to be printed (drinks to a bar printer, food to a kitchen printer).

Setting up Printers

  1. 1. Connect your printer(s) to your wireless router with an Ethernet cable.
  2. 2. Connect your iOS or Android Phone/Tablet to your wireless router’s WiFi network.  If you have more than 1 network broadcasting (i.e. guest network and private network), make sure the ports are set to the same network as the one your devices are connected to.

Welcome to SalesVu, Haunts of Mackinac Tours!

Haunts of Mackinac Tours (HMT) has adopted SalesVu! HMT is a walking tour company that provides guests with tours of history, legends and ghost stories of Mackinac Island, Michigan.

HMT needed an iPad POS because they sell tickets in a number of locations in addition to having a gift shop. Prior to looking into different POS solutions, they were using a traditional cash register and an online ticketing system.

Owner Todd Clements chose SalesVu because it “looked easy to use and to train others to use. Most importantly was the ability to maintain inventory numbers and tracking hours.”

His favorite features include the reporting abilities and inventory control because he can keep a close eye on the business from anywhere.

SalesVu iPad POS System Open Tabs and Tip Adjustment Features

Open tabs and tip adjustments: two features that set the SalesVu restaurant POS apart from the rest in the restaurant industry!

Let’s start with the open tab capabilities in SalesVu. Unlike most other POS systems, in the SalesVu app, your establishment has the ability to swipe a customer’s credit card, open a tab and leave it open while still processing other transactions and taking orders. When a customer wants to add an additional item to their tab, such as another glass of wine, you just find their name and add it to the tab; you can manage unlimited open tabs simultaneously. Additionally, these tabs can be managed and edited on different devices.

SalesVu’s open tab abilities are also great for the customer for a few reasons. First, customers won’t have to worry about leaving their credit card with employees and will have the satisfaction of keeping it on themselves. Second, it is more convenient for customers to only pay for one order and keep track of their purchase. Lastly, if multiple devices are available, it gives them the freedom to move around the restaurant/ bar without having to go back to the same device; this simplifies and quickens the ordering process, making it easier for customers to spend money.

“This helps immensely because we can offer our customers the convenience of running a tab, giving the customer the peace of mind of not leaving their credit card with a stranger, and [it] comforts the business as they won’t have to eat any tabs left open,” said Mason City Brewing Owner Justin Merritt.

Now, for adjusting tips! SalesVu’s iPad POS gives you and your customers the option of tipping one of two ways. First, you can add a tip on the device after swiping a customer’s credit card. If you are a business that prefers not to print receipts then this is for you! After creating an order (and swiping their credit card), you may turn the device around to the customer, allow them to enter a tip onto the device if they choose to do so, press “Next” and sign digitally.

The second tipping option is for businesses that offer printed receipts in addition to e-mailed. On the paper receipt, customers are given the standard line to add tip before signing. If this is the case, your employees can go back and access orders at any time (every couple hours, at the end of the day or end of the week) and add the tip amount to the order total. This means that tickets can go back and be accessed and adjusted beyond simply adjusting a tip. If for some reason you decide to go back and discount or cancel an order, you may do so.

See How This Weight Loss Clinic Uses SalesVu iPad POS System

Welcome to SalesVu, Medloss! Medloss is a medical weight loss clinic that uses a combination of physician supervision, nutritional counseling and fitness training. They heard about SalesVu when searching for an easy-to-use and expandable POS system. Prior to discovering SalesVu, Medloss was using a combination of Intuit and Quickbooks. They also considered Square but chose SalesVu’s iPad POS because of “the ease of setup and use.”

“When it comes to losing weight, we like the ability of taking our business to the person instead of the person to the business,” said Medloss’ Ched Lambert. “We wanted the ability to go offsite if needed.”

So far, Medloss loves the recurring billing that SalesVu’s POS system offers as they provide a payment plan to offset the upfront cost for patients.

98 Cents Plus Discount Store Talks about SalesVu iPad POS System Extensive Capabilities

At the 98 Cents Plus Discount Store, you can get anything from beer and wine to home improvement goods to baby food. They describe their business as a convenience store mixed with a merchandise store. 98 Cents Plus also sells tobacco, products and lottery tickets. Additionally, they have a Western Union Service on location to transfer money.

98 Cents Plus discovered SalesVu’s POS system while looking into Square. They considered Square but Square did not have the ability to track inventory as SalesVu’s retail POS does. Prior to adopting the SalesVu iPad POS, they did not have the ability to track sales and inventory.

“We had to do everything manually,” said Nitya Patel, owner of 98 Cents Plus Discount Store.

98 Cents Plus did not need a mobile POS system but due to the rates, they could not resist.

“We picked SalesVu iPad POS because first of all it has very low rates for merchant service when compared to other merchant companies,” said Patel. “Also, it has a backend website where we can input inventory, track sales, change prices, etc. We love this feature.”

Patel’s favorite aspect of SalesVu is that they now use an iPad for the terminal and the customers love it.

“We had situations already where customers would come back with their kids just to show their kids how the system works,” said Patel. “They love it!”

Also, it is much easier for them to track inventory now.

“We used to have to remember each and every item and its price so that we could ring it up,” said Patel. “Now, we just scan the items and we do not need to worry about charging the wrong price to a customer. This also helps us to save money in the long run.”

DePuma’s Gluten Free Pasta Now Using SalesVu’s iPad POS System

DePuma’s Gluten Free Pasta (DGFP) is a family owned business that offers premium pastas to customers with dietary restrictions and those who want to live a gluten/wheat-free lifestyle.

DGFP was using Intuit when one of their customers that owns a bakery told them about the SalesVu retail POS. Before switching they also considered Square and GoPayment. SalesVu stood out because they felt the POS system offered the best fixed rate.

“Having the same rate for either swiped or manual was key for us,” said Owner John DePuma.

DePuma’s needed an iPad POS because they often go to vendor events to sell pastas and want the ability to offer credit cards as a payment method for customers. Now, the convenience of a mobile sale at the shop is easy.

“We love the user friendly website where we can add products and inventory with no issues,” said DePuma. “Creating a sale is so fast and we can print a receipt within seconds!”

At eneRGy Photoart and Seductions Boudoir (EPSB), clients can preserve their passions and special moments by creating artistic expression through digital art and photography. EPSB also teaches their clients basic photography skills.

Owner Randy Goertzen meets portrait customers in their home, his home office, at trade shows and on location; this variety gave him the need to have access to a POS system in multiple situations. Goertzen used a combination of PayPal and Intuit GoPayment before adopting the SalesVu iPad POS. He had also looked into Square but did not receive the level of customer support that he was in need of.

“I chose SalesVu because I really like the interface of the iPad and iPhone apps, especially without a big investment or large minimum charge, which is important for a small business,” said Goertzen.

“My favorite thing about SalesVu iPad POS is the personalized POS interface so that I can easily and efficiently choose my products, add individual items, add a discount, add personal notes and whatever other information I need to all at one source,” he said.
