The Company

Barnstormer Winery (BW) is a Seneca Lake winery located in a century-old, historic barn.

“Just like the Barnstormer pilots of the 1920’s, we make it our mission to entertain and provide our guests with an unforgettable experience,” said Kyle Knapton, BW tasting room manager.

The newly renovated winery offers a wide array of Finger Lakes wines.

“We incorporate the charm of the rustic barn into the design of our laid back tasting room where you can relax, enjoy great wines and experience a slice of the Finger Lakes wine region that you will be sure to remember,” said Knapton.

BW also provides local cheeses, cured meats, snacks and beverages for creating your own picnic to go.

Choosing an iPad POS

Barnstormer needed an mPOS because they “run everything” from behind a square tasting bar.

“It’s best to take our POS to our customer rather than make them search for a checkout location,” said Knapton.

When researching their first POS system, BW looked into Shopkeep and SalesVu. They chose SalesVu as it seemed to be the most affordable and customer-service oriented POS that also fully tracked inventory.

“We love the ability to track our inventory and get sales reports instantly online from any location,” said Knapton. “The ease of getting all of the information is incredible! This allows us to track daily sales and set up employee scheduling at a moment’s notice.”

Bubble Crunch (BC) offers Bubble Tea and Asian fusion street food in a casual dining atmosphere. Their goal is to provide fun and delicious food at an affordable price.

“We didn’t need a mobile POS, but we like that we are able to keep our counter space clear and uncluttered so we have room to add merchandise instead,” said Nga Myers, Bubble Crunch owner.

BC found SalesVu when researching POS systems before opening their business. They also considered using Square and Micros.

“We chose SalesVu because the rates were great, the setup cost was minimal (iPad, printer and cash drawer) and it was flexible to meet our needs,” said Myers. “Since we are a restaurant, we need to be able to add modifiers to our orders.”

Myers’ favorite thing about is the customer service and simplicity.

“SalesVu is super easy to use,” said Myers. “I took two minutes to train my employee on opening day and they were able to handle the rush of 150 orders that came in without any issues.”

All Zen Boutique Considers SalesVu iPad POS System “a Blessing” for Inventory Tracking, Quickbooks and much more

ZenLogoFinal_full

All Zen Boutique (AZB) is a wellness products boutique that focuses on bringing the comfort and luxury of the spa to you online or at a private venue. AZB is an extension of Owner Nicole Batiste’s holistic health coach practice.

Batiste heard about SalesVu when she was looking for a way to maintain her inventory. She also looked into QuickBooks and Microsoft but both were thousands of dollars.

“I considered them too expensive for a small business like mine,” said Batiste.

Batiste has also used PayPal and Intuit GoPayment.

“I chose SalesVu because it offered the whole POS system, it was more cost effective and you can start small and grow so the scalability of the system is perfect,” said Batiste. “I love that it has a small barcode reader that works with the system and most importantly, it’s portable!”

AZB needs an iPad POS because it involves private venues, events and online sales.

“I do not have a storefront just yet so SalesVu has been a blessing,” said Batiste.

When asked what her favorite feature is, she said “the whole system!”

“I love that I can sync with my QuickBooks online account, the fact that I can maintain my inventory, generate orders and look more professional with my barcode scanner as I’m ringing up client purchases,” said Batiste. “There’s so much I can do with this system.”

SalesVu’s Simplicity iPad POS System and Abundance of Features is Key at Blowback Armory

378382_10150445987477544_427898509_n

The Company

Blowback Armory (BA) is an airsoft company that specializes in the most realistic airsoft guns (primarily gas blowback airsoft guns). BA caters guns and parts and does custom work and build services.

“We’re definitely more of a custom shop than any other company, currently,” said Owner John Young. “We also have a vision of bringing a truly realistic, low cost, high safety training solution for tactical force-on-force applications for law enforcement, military and even civilian groups that are interested in doing defense training with a “non-gun” sim weapon.”

BA also does in-house design and manufacturing of some items and hopes to expand with their own line of Made-in-USA “Training Grade” airsoft solutions.

“Of course, we also love supporting the consumer airsoft community as well and offering services that are unheard of in the industry,” said Young.

The Needs

Blowback Armory needed an mPOS solution because they go out to local airsoft games and community events.

“We really didn’t like the idea of having a bulky POS in the shop plus a pseudo mobile POS for events and separate books, etc,” said Young. “We’re fans of simplicity.”

iPad POS Solutions

BA tried Square, SalesVu, an mPOS from their usual merchant service provider and several others but felt that they were doing more work than they needed to be doing. As Young explained, some apps were very expensive — “hundreds or thousands for a turnkey solution.”

SalesVu is the most robust non-purchase retail POS solution that we’ve seen,” said Young. “It really seemed different from the rest of the ‘free’ solutions in that there is a more conventional admin-type interface available online, multiple ways to administer, etc.”

Using SalesVu

  • Young likes how the category system works and that it supports multiple devices.

“The features list is really surprising, seeing as this is a non-purchase app,” said Young.

  • The search feature is very helpful at BA.

“As simple as it sounds, [the search feature] really cuts down on the time needed to search for items in multiple categories,” said Young. “With another solution I used, I had to sift through my items by category. The end result would be excessive lengths of time to ring up a customer, which is kind of counterproductive; faster times at the register means more sales, simple as that.”

The Results

“SalesVu has really simplified the whole POS enigma,” said Young. “POS systems can be very complex, not to mention expensive. With SalesVu, we have a simple, all-in-one solution that we can take anywhere and really use any way we’d like. It’s simple in all the right ways, powerful and feature-rich. It just works!”

  • Blowback Armory was able to save money

“Anyone that’s thought about getting a POS system or iOS-based POS should be well aware the pricing starts in the thousands for one system,” said Young. “We bought an iPad many times cheaper and many times cooler. Plus we can take it with us.”

  • Simplified taxes

“It makes taxes a breeze; I click a few buttons and I’m staring at all the sales I’ve done from web to in-store to an event,” said Young. “It really couldn’t be easier.”

Photographer Matt Suess Explains Why He Loves SalesVu iPad POS System for His Business

Suess Fine Art Photography is long-time professional photographer Matt Suess’ business. Suess travels extensively in his RV to photograph which allows him to sell his fine art photography at juried fine art festivals in different states as well as sell online. Suess also teaches photo workshops, online classes, continuously updates his website and maintains his photography blog.

Suess heard about SalesVu’s iPad POS in a forum for art festival artists.

“The post compared it to Square and mentioned many of the benefits SalesVu has over Square,” said Suess.

Prior to using SalesVu, Suess was using Square and had also tried a traditional merchant account with “the large Nurit card readers.”

After reading about SalesVu, Suess compared it with competitors. He researched websites, read comments and asked around for opinions.

“There were a number of reasons I chose SalesVu POS System, such as: the high quality card reader, excellent software for the iPad, a good website with lots of ways for me to control my SalesVu experience, the lowest rate I could find, no monthly fees, excellent and friendly telephone support (even before becoming a customer) and more,” said Suess. “One of the best features is having access to the customer’s email address after sending them an email receipt, unlike Square who doesn’t allow you to get that, which allows me the opportunity to send thank you’s via email and the opportunity to add them to my mailing list.”

Having access to customers’ email addresses is important for Suess as he believes the most effective form of marketing is to contact those that have already purchased from him. This is a feature Suess considers “invaluable.”

“The other great thing is being able to reach customer support right away via the phone,” said Suess. “In setting up my account I had a few questions and contacted support a few times; each time they were friendly and knew what they were talking about.”

Open Tabs Make All the Difference at Yellow Springs Brewery

IMG_0305

Yellow Springs Brewery (YSB) is a seven barrel brewery located in Yellow Springs, Ohio, just outside Dayton. YSB is a production brewery with a taproom that is open Wednesday through Sunday.

YSB wanted a mobile POS for flexibility.

“Old POS systems are very clunky and stationary,” said Yellow Springs Owner Nate Cornett. “Our staff can walk to the customer, set up a tab and take care of their needs right then and there.”

SalesVu was recommended by other breweries and having open tabs was a must for YSB to run their taproom. Cornett had helped set up Quickbooks in a friend’s taproom and says it was “not near as flexible.”

“The tabs feature is invaluable,” said Cornett. “There are too many [favorite] features to name, really. The ease of use and ability to add a new product online are a huge benefit! If one beer drops midweek and you are adding a new one, it’s easy to modify your POS.”

YSB has saved modestly upfront but not having to pay a maintenance fee is a big deal for them.

SalesVu has allowed us to spend more time on running the business and less worrying about whether or not our POS system can handle our environment,” said Cornett.

Reporting and Inventory Management are Key at Yo’Cheese

The Company

Yo’Cheese (YC) of Centennial, Colorado is a small family owned business in a premier outdoor shopping venue. With few employees, YC has a menu offering 4 types of grilled cheese sandwiches (all named after the owners’ children), a weekly special and a homemade tomato soup.

The Needs

A mobile solution is necessary due to their of lack of space and frequent deliveries to businesses

“We can take our iPad with us and make a transaction when we deliver,” said Yo’Cheese Co- Owner Colleen McConeghy.

Choosing an iPad POS

YC considered Intuit in addition to SalesVu when researching POS systems.

“We chose SalesVu because of the functionality, as well as the price,” said McConeghy. “It’s completely worth it to have amazing functionality like the reporting and inventory — a lot of great tools that make our job a lot easier.”

Life With SalesVu

YC’s favorite feature is the inventory tracking.

“We have four kids, a business, a lot of activities; we love that we receive alerts when a product has dropped below a certain amount,” said McConeghy. “We don’t have to guess, go to the shop, ask our employees; we know right away.”

They also really like SalesVu’s ease of use.

“It takes us just minutes to get new employees up and running,” said McConeghy. “We don’t have to spend or waste a lot of time getting new employees set up with a complicated system.”

Yo’Cheese is able to do just about everything through the solution.

“Hours for pay, sales reports for tax reporting — it’s a one-stop place for all of our financial tracking,” said McConeghy. “We also like the partnership with Mercury. If Mercury has an issue, it’s resolved in minutes. Did we mention it’s easy to use?”
