The Shop
HTWest Services (HTW) is a Sacramento business that provides repairs and offers refurbishment services for cell phones, tablets, game consoles, computers and laptops. They also sell refurbished cell phones and accessories. HTW offers something unique that most other repair facilities don’t: a lifetime warranty against breakage on any screen replacement that they perform.
“If a customer happens to break their screen again during the time that they own their phone, we will repair the screen at no labor charge,” said HTW Owner Pete DePalma. “They simply purchase the part from us and we will install it for free.”
Despite having 10-15 other repair shops located in the Sacramento area, HTW has customers that drive 40 minutes for repairs because of pricing and outstanding customer service.
POS History
HTW started off using Square but didn’t get a lot of the features that they were looking for. Square suddenly shut down HTW’s account claiming that they were in a “high risk” industry, according to DePalma. HTW could not challenge the decision, despite finding many other cell phone repair shops in the Square directory, as Square does not offer a customer service number.
Moving On From Square
When considering a new POS solution, HTW found SalesVu by searching for merchant service providers. DePalma says he never looked into PayPal “due to their tendency to lock up accounts for no apparent reason.” Since DePalma has an extensive background working in the merchant services industry, he realized a bundled rate would be the best and cheapest solution for his shop since their average tickets are under $100.
An iPad POS is crucial for HTWest because some of their services are offered on a mobile basis.
Why SalesVu?
“I chose SalesVu because of the integrated POS and multiple location functionality,” said DePalma. “I intend to aggressively expand in the coming months and already have plans for a couple of additional locations.”
In addition to the integrated POS System, DePalma loves the ability to “keep an eye on inventory levels.”
