The Electric Bean (EB) is a non-profit coffee shop, run by volunteer staff, that donates 100% of its profits back to the community. In this next quarter, their money will go to help fund the local homeless shelter and battered women’s shelter.

EB chose to operate their business with an iPad POS because they wanted to save counter space.

“We chose SalesVu primarily because of its straightforward operation,” said Electric Bean GM Andrew Nguyen. “We also loved the reporting system.”

Nguyen specifically likes being able to access reports and monitor transactions from his laptop anywhere that has internet.

“When I am away from the shop I can use the tool to check in on staff and see how busy we are based on the number of sales; it’s like having a live feed,” said Nguyen.

SalesVu has helped us by allowing us to have a mobile POS system,” said Nguyen. “There are times when we can load up SalesVu on other devices and take orders when our line gets too long.”

The Company

Yours Truly Cupcake (YTC) is a dessert catering company in Denver, Co. YTC creates unique sensory experiences for customers through desserts and services. Yours Truly specializes in liquor-infused cupcakes and desserts that pair with cocktails and wine; these treats are targeted at adventurous adults with a sophisticated palette.

For events and corporate gifts, YTC meets with clients in their tasting room to gain an understanding of the customers’ needs and how Yours Truly can be the “sweet solution” for them. For larger events, they bake-to-order every dessert imaginable .

The Needs

  • YTC wanted the ability to use iPads and iPhones to charge customers without investing in a large POS system as they don’t have the space.

  • Analytics during business growth

“Before SalesVu, we used Square,” said YTC Owner Tiffany Goodyear. “But as the business grew, we wanted to keep analytics. Our processing company recommended SalesVu and we have been satisfied with the interface.”

  • Online ordering AND on-site purchases

“We recently opened a retail walk-up window adjacent to our tasting room so we can offer our customers the option to pick up treats without needing to place an advanced order,” said Goodyear.

The Results

  • Retail operation is more organized through SalesVu’s features

“We use SalesVu for our retail operation which allows us to track inventory and see trends in popular products and flavors,” said Goodyear. “For the catering side and call-in orders, we love to send the invoice directly through SalesVu and have our clients click through to pay; this saves time and ensures we are paid in full before we bake.”

  • Online ordering

“I like how easy it is to integrate online ordering through our website,” said Goodyear. “We get lots of orders from all over the country so it allows people to shop during hours when we are closed.”

  • Simplified payment process

“Because we are a small business, we want to spend our energy on our clients and not worrying about if and how we are going to get paid,” said Goodyear. “[SalesVu] is so easy to use that we can train people quickly and it is very intuitive!”

  • YTC saved hundreds from not investing in a traditional POS.

Alpha Brewing Company Talks SalesVu iPad POS System

379701_493180540751873_602077778_n

Alpha Brewing Company (ABC) is a small microbrewery located in St. Louis that sells beer and merchandise in their tasting room.

An iPad POS was important for ABC because they needed a way to process credit cards and hold tabs. When opening their business, ABC looked into Square, SalesVu and PC-based POS systems. SalesVu prevailed for two reasons: they like using Apple products and they wanted SalesVu’s tab and tipping features.

ABC Owner Derrick Langeneckert really likes the cloud-based sales reporting that SalesVu offers.

SalesVu has also made it easy to process credit cards,” said Langeneckert. “We saved at least $1,000 upfront. The PC-based systems require you to purchase a lot of hardware; we didn’t want to buy a Windows machine.”

You can find out more about this St. Louis brewery at www.alphabrewingcompany.com, on Facebook or on Twitter @alphabrewingco.

St. Lawrence Brewing Co Talks SalesVu iPad POS System Simplicity and Mobility

Screen Shot 2013-08-22 at 1.06.06 PM

The Company

  • St. Lawrence Brewing Company (SL) is a brand new production microbrewery in Canton, NY. SL is bringing craft beer to the north country with a passion for local products and strong regional flavors.

Why an mPOS?

  • In addition to selling in their taproom, SL attends events where they sell merchandise.

Whose POS?

  • St. Lawrence considered Paypal and Square when looking at a wide variety of iPad POS systems.

  • Owners had used Adelo, Aloha and Square at their restaurant.

Why SalesVu?

  • SalesVu was mentioned on several platforms, including probrewer.com, came well recommended and proved to be a good fit through research

“The web-based backend seemed robust for what we would need to be doing,” said Owner Ken Hebb. “The fee structure of many of the systems were prohibitively expensive and though the SalesVu merchant service fees are slightly higher than other credit card services, the combination of services made the cost worthwhile!”

  • Hebb’s favorite things about SalesVu are the mobility of an iPad, simplicity of the hardware and ease of management in the backend.

St. Lawrence Brewing Company can be found on Facebook and Google +.

Why SalesVu iPad POS System Beat Out the Competition at Partners Bar and Grill

partners-logo-nbh-outline-shadow

Partners Bar and Grill (PBG) is a small establishment near downtown Huntsville, AL. PBG opened in 2007 but is now under new management.

PBG needed an mPOS solution because it reduces their costs and complexity compared to the traditional solution they were using (Sharp cash registers with “poorly implemented PLU system” and stand-alone credit card terminal).

“Being able to use an off-the-shelf Apple iPad made more sense than having a large, clunky, proprietary hardware to contend with,” said James Mazikowski, owner of Partners. Also, with our outdoor patio bar, a mobile POS solution seemed like the way to go in terms of being able to bring the equipment inside in inclement weather or when we close.”

When switching from Sharp’s traditional cash registers to an up-to-date mPOS, PBG also considered Square, NCR Silver, Shopkeep and POS Lavu.

“I decided SalesVu’s iPad POS would be the best fit for us due to the fact that credit card processing fees were below those of the competition and there was no monthly fee,” said Mazikowski. “SalesVu’s rich cloud based management and reporting interface were also strong points that affected my decisions.”

Mazikowski likes the ability to make changes to products in seconds; he can change prices, add discounts or create a new product without ever getting in the way of the bartenders.

“I love the powerful reporting features,” said Mazikowski. “Before, we had to keep track of different sales categories manually for tax purposes, whereas SalesVu allows us to call up a report for a certain category whenever we need it!”

Inventory, ECommerce Website and Employee Management are Essential at Juice Junkies

Juice Junkies

Juice Junkies (JJ) has arrived! JJ is a raw, organic juice bar that serves cold, pressured juices that are bottled in-house. They also serve superfood smoothies as well as raw and vegan food, all made on location and packaged to go.

SalesVu is Owner Hillary Biediger’s first mPOS.

“I’ve used Aloha and Squirrel in other businesses at which I’ve worked,” said Biediger. “I didn’t like them.”

She also considered Square and POS Lavu. Biediger liked SalesVu because there was no major start up cost, just the cost of hardware and extra credit cards swipers. The transaction fees were also appealing to her.

“[SalesVu] is a full POS solution: inventory, online ordering, employee clock-in and clock-out,” said Biediger. “It has everything you need to run a small business.”

An iPad POS was important for JJ because it takes up less space and looks nice and clean.

“My main reason for using a mobile POS is that the parking lot at my store is limited, so I would like to be able to run my product out to my customers and use my iPod Touch and swipe their credit card so they can be on their way..FAST,” said Biediger.

Biediger likes how easy it is to change a product or price on the computer and have it immediately updated on the devices.

“I like online ordering; I also like how easy it is to use SalesVu,” said Biediger. “This will make training employees so much easier!”

SalesVu iPad POS System Over Square at Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar

SalesVu In Action

Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar (BB) has just adopted SalesVu’s iPad POS! BB, a Spicewood, Tx diner and bar, serves burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. Their bacon theme extends to the menu items, including drinks such as the Bacon Bloody Mary.

When BB was starting up they looked into Square and SalesVu. They compared the features of the two solutions and one major difference was that Square does not offer the ability to keep open tabs, a mandatory feature for BB. Additionally, they were given a walk through demonstration in a real time environment to see firsthand how SalesVu’s iPad POS could benefit their business.

“We needed an mPOS for indoor and outdoor dining, mainly,” said BB Owner Jennifer Halpine. “Also, we thought it looked really cool to have the waitstaff creating order tickets on iPod Touch and iPad devices. Plus, the ability for the customer to sign the mobile device and have the receipt emailed to them was appealing to us.”

We’re so happy to have Briarcliff Bistro & Bacon Bar using our iPad POS! If you’re interested in going to BB, you can check in on Foursquare, tweet them @BriarcliffBistro or view some of their delicious menu items on Pinterest: BriarcliffBacon.

The Juice Bar is a juice and smoothie bar with fresh, organic, daily-made salads, spring rolls and other yummy treats.

Juice Bar is a startup that heard about SalesVu’s iPad POS on Google. They considered a few other POS systems including Square and Revel. They chose SalesVu because of the app’s “ease of use.”

Their favorite thing about SalesVu is the simplicity “to configure, use and train others on the app.”

98 Cents Plus Discount Store Talks about SalesVu iPad POS System Extensive Capabilities

At the 98 Cents Plus Discount Store, you can get anything from beer and wine to home improvement goods to baby food. They describe their business as a convenience store mixed with a merchandise store. 98 Cents Plus also sells tobacco, products and lottery tickets. Additionally, they have a Western Union Service on location to transfer money.

98 Cents Plus discovered SalesVu’s POS system while looking into Square. They considered Square but Square did not have the ability to track inventory as SalesVu’s retail POS does. Prior to adopting the SalesVu iPad POS, they did not have the ability to track sales and inventory.

“We had to do everything manually,” said Nitya Patel, owner of 98 Cents Plus Discount Store.

98 Cents Plus did not need a mobile POS system but due to the rates, they could not resist.

“We picked SalesVu iPad POS because first of all it has very low rates for merchant service when compared to other merchant companies,” said Patel. “Also, it has a backend website where we can input inventory, track sales, change prices, etc. We love this feature.”

Patel’s favorite aspect of SalesVu is that they now use an iPad for the terminal and the customers love it.

“We had situations already where customers would come back with their kids just to show their kids how the system works,” said Patel. “They love it!”

Also, it is much easier for them to track inventory now.

“We used to have to remember each and every item and its price so that we could ring it up,” said Patel. “Now, we just scan the items and we do not need to worry about charging the wrong price to a customer. This also helps us to save money in the long run.”
