SalesVuiPad POS System brings restaurant POS to the cloud at Cloud Cafe

Cloud Café (CC) is a tech-oriented espresso and teahouse that caters to the technology subculture in Katy, Texas. This establishment serves everything from bubble tea to coffee, to Italian soda and much more!

Restaurant POS

“We’re a hidden gem in our area,” said Denae Dehoyos, General Manager at CC.  “We are well known for our espresso based coffee drinks, as well as latte art, and the science behind making amazing coffee!”

CC sought a mobile restaurant POS system for versatility when dealing with different kinds of transactions. Whether they’re in the shop or out at an event, they wanted a system that could effectively and quickly take care of their most important priorities: great customers and great drinks.

Cloud Café has been a customer of SalesVu since their opening. They love the iPad POS system because it allows the use of up-to-date technology which most of their employees already have.

“As we are an all tech-savvy staff at the cafe, we enjoy having up to date technology at our fingertips – literally! It’s so much easier to just have a tablet or iPad (most of us here already own at least one) that we can pop a card reader on and handle our business,” said Dehoyos.

In addition, the reports feature has helped CC organize all of their purchase data by category. They enjoy being able to compare sale statistics in the form of graphs or charts in order to make the best financial choices for the company. The ease of reporting has saved CC “tons of man hours” that would be spent collecting data and entering numbers. Now they can put their minds to work on better, more innovative ideas for the company.

“It just makes so much more sense to save the man hours involved in numbers and marketing,” said Dehoyos. “[With SalesVu], reports are done how I want, in less time and without having to pay someone to do it for me.”

Cloud Café considered Square, as well as a “big, ancient and clunky POS machine that would cost a ton of money”, but decided to go with SalesVu for their business management needs instead.

“We already have phones and tablets handy. Why spend the money on old technology?” said Dehoyos, “We saved tons of money not having to hire an accountant for the company alone. SalesVu makes it easy to let anyone manage the finances.”

Using SalesVu, CC is able to give certain employees different permissions for managing POS transactions. Each month, CC holds a contest among its employees for who has the highest average ticket price for a prize.

“This is a fun and easy way to boost our own sales and we can check their progress easily and without confusion,” said Dehoyos. “It also encourages our employees to perform better on the job.”

SalesVu iPad POS System Helps Shades of Sugar Make Sweet Improvements

Shades of Sugar (SS) is a small bakery that provides custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cake balls and many other confections to the Richardson, Texas area.

Autumn Surface, SS owner, found herself in need of a mobile restaurant POS system because she wanted to be able to sit down with a customer to discuss cake ideas, and then ring up the sale at the same table. The shop’s previous owner had a massive traditional POS system that took up their entire counter. When Surface took over the shop, she was on a tight budget and didn’t want to pay “thousands” to maintain the current system or purchase a new mobile solution.

After struggling to keep up with employee hours, sales trends, expenses and invoices, Surface researched systems like Revel and ShopKeep and eventually decided to use SalesVu.

Shades of Sugar has been able to appropriate the Restaurant POS system to track sales in the front of the bakery as well as oversee employee hours and inventory in the back. Viewing reports helps SS see sales trends and make data-driven decisions about which cakes to sell and which to discontinue.

“I like that at any given time I can pull a report and see exactly what is happening financially at the bakery,” said Surface. “I can input my recipes and it will keep track of my inventory and my employees clock-in using SalesVu. It truly does everything! SalesVu has combined all of those [features] into one easy application and made my time mine again, so that I can do what I enjoy doing, BAKING.”

Lastly, moving to an mPOS system has helped Shades of Sugar seamlessly deliver products by allowing them to finalize a sale when it reaches it’s destination. The adoption of SalesVu has made business management at SS easier than ever.

“I like everything about SalesVu,” said Surface. “I am so glad that it keeps up with the front and back end of the bakery. I am busy all the with baking, so I like that SalesVu will keep up with all the stuff I don’t have time to keep up with.”

McKinney’s Irish Pub Chooses SalesVu’s iPad POS over competitors

McKinneys Irish Pub (MIP) is a new, authentic 2,000 square foot pub in the Haymarket district of Lincoln, Nebraska. MIP boasts a large selection of craft beer and Irish whiskeys.

Though McKinneys only opened in November, Owner Nathan Stewart has been in the food industry for almost 15 years and worked with numerous POS system, including Micros, Aloha and others.

Stewart wanted an iPad POS to “step up the service.” McKinneys can now have servers on the floor with iPad Minis and save two to three minutes in the ordering process.

“This was the first time we went to an iPad interface,” said Stewart. “I used other systems before for my other business but I knew that I would be running a bar and needing more detail like, printing credit card receipts, inventory control and clocking employees in and out. I would say I researched [SalesVu] for about a month [prior to making my decision].”

Stewart also considered Breadcrumb, Revel and Micros for McKinneys.

“I chose SalesVu’s restaurant POS because of the price, customization abilities, inventory control and integration with QuickBooks,” said Stewart.

Stewart says his favorite SalesVu feature is the QuickBooks integration.

“It makes our job as business owners a lot easier when you don’t have to spend so much time doing the reports,” said Stewart. “All of the different reports that SalesVu can do are really convenient as well.”

Stewart believes that SalesVu has made them more efficient and saved them anywhere from $500 to $15,000 based on other estimates he was given. He also says he has saved on SalesVu’s free customer support.

Small Fry Owner, Rico Nasol, Explains the Significance of SalesVu’s iPad POS SystemReporting

unnamed-2

The Company

Small Fry (SF) is a San Jose, California food truck that specializes in Belgian-style french fries with gourmet toppings. SF believes that french fries should be the “star” and no longer the side dish.

“Being America’s favorite side, it deserves to stand on its own,” said Small Fry Owner Rico Nasol.

Small Fry accomplishes this by bringing flavors to their fries from Asia, Mexico, the U.S. and beyond.

Small Fry’s Needs

As a food truck, SF needs a POS system that was as mobile as they are.

“We have different locations every day of the week and different locations for lunch and dinner,” said Nasol. “We need the flexibility to process payments anywhere we go. If you don’t take cards, you turn away so much business.”

The SalesVu Decision

When looking into mobile POS solutions, SF also considered Square and PayPal.

“We are a new business and SalesVu was our first choice,” said Nasol. “We signed up for Square as a backup, but we knew that SalesVu is exactly what we were looking for. The cost savings and the reporting, by far, gave SalesVu the edge.”

SalesVu is the perfect combination of an easy to use frontend with a robust backend reporting suite,” said Nasol. “It provides the functionality that we need for our young and growing business; it helps us manage everything from labor costs to sales.”

SalesVu had several features that attracted Nasol, including the ability to track how the truck’s sales regardless of where he is.

“I can login to the backend service and check orders in real time which helps on the days that I am not on the truck,” said Nasol. “The backend allows me to track those sales as well as analyze what sells best, when and where. It really helps us control inventory and be prepared for each service location.”

He also really liked SalesVu’s ease of use.

“It is so easy to set up products, categories, etc,” said Nasol.”Adding pictures is a breeze and the fact that all of that information can sync to our website is fantastic!”

The Results

Small Fry is saving money on transaction fees and food costs due to the ability to gauge their needs.

SalesVu really gives us the high level and the granular views we need to help make our business more efficient,” said Nasol. “We can slice and dice the data how we need to so we can figure out how to run our truck best.”

As a new business, Small Fry looks forward to online ordering, calling it a “powerful tool,” once they build up a following and repeat customers.

Cheers to Pitchfork Brewing Using SalesVu’s iPad POS System

Color_Logo

Pitchfork Brewing (PB), a small Wisconsin brewery, has just adopted SalesVu! PB focuses on brewing craft beer with an emphasis on environmental practices and locally sourced ingredients. They also have a tap room attached to the brewery where customers can stop in for a pint or pick up a growler to take home.

PB Owner Jessie Fredricksen read about SalesVu while researching credit card processors. Fredrickson thought that because PB is a small business with a small budget they would have to use a basic register and an add-on card processing machine. Then, they learned about the various POS systems that operate on iPads and iPhones.

“We discovered that we could have a POS system that provided great analytics without having to buy expensive equipment,” said Fredricksen.

In addition to SalesVu, PB considered Square, Shopkeep, NCR Silver and a traditional cash register. PB chose SalesVu’s POS system because it has everything they need in an iPad POS for a great price.

“Square wouldn’t let us run tabs for our customers, which we absolutely need in the tap room,” said Fredricksen. “We also liked the sturdier card reader that comes with SalesVu, as well as the in-depth analysis that the program can run for us. We are just beginning to scratch the surface of using all the data that SalesVu provides.”

With SalesVu, PB can operate smoothly when they are busy. They can now process transactions on the spot while delivering kegs to restaurants, outdoor festivals and events. Their favorite feature is the ability to run tabs for customers because they can swipe the card, leave the tab open under the customer’s name and keep track of multiple tabs simultaneously.

“This is incredibly helpful, especially when the tap room is busy,” said Fredricksen. “Another great thing about SalesVu is that it’s very easy to setup and use. It is quite intuitive and user friendly; I was able to teach everyone in the company how to use it very quickly.”

Have You Tried an Armadillo’s Ice Cream?

Armadillo’s Ice Cream Shoppe (AICS) is a true hometown, locally owned ice cream shoppe that serves a multitude of items: from sundaes to shakes or malts to old fashioned ice cream sodas. They also serve a variety of lunch and dinner options including: paninis, wraps and sandwiches. AICS is best known for their renowned homemade sherbet.

“We are committed to providing the best food and ice cream around with the best customer experience you can get, all at a reasonable price,” said Owner Michael Brummer.

When AICS heard about SalesVu iPad POS from another local business, they were in the process of using Square but were concerned about their accounting and reporting features. They also looked into PayPal when researching the best restaurant POS for them. An iPad POS was important to Armadillo’s because they wanted a touch screen register with the ability to accept credit cards.

“The iPad and free software was the most economically feasible option,” said Brummer. “The software coupled with the credit card services made the SalesVu option very attractive to us.”

SalesVu proved to be the best mobile point of sales system for AICS because “first and foremost SalesVu has the best customer service, along with all the right things [Armadillo’s] wanted from an accounting perspective.” The 25 employees’ transition to SalesVu’s POS system was easy, which made for an enjoyable customer experience as well.

Armadillo’s favorite things about the SalesVu solution are the reporting and customer service.

“The reporting is absolutely amazing; it makes accounting so easy and we can get as detailed or as simple as we like,” said Brummer.

We are thrilled that you chose SalesVu to help run your business, AICS! Send some of that ice cream our way please!

See How A Cajun Life, Our AWESOME Customer, Uses SalesVu iPad POS System

The Company

A Cajun Life (ACL) is an authentic Cajun food cart located in Damascus, Oregon. ACL’s menu includes: Gumbo, Bayou Boogie, Crawfish Etouffee and Crawfish Pistolettes. Their meats are flown in directly from a grocer in the heart of Cajun Country. They attend many farmers’ markets and festivals year-round and are currently in the process of launching a line of Cajun seasonings.

The Needs

ACL runs on a part-time basis and therefore has to cook only as much food as demand requires; additionally, since their meats are flown in, they need to be accurate. They also operate in multiple locations depending on the time of year and day of the week. As a result, an iPad POS allows them to accurately track how much of an item they sell each week. That in turn, allows them to determine how much to cook on a weekly basis to minimize waste.

“It helps keep accurate track of our total sales and allows us to effectively follow our sales trends,” said Owner Chris Fontenot.

They were looking for an all-in-one solution that would allow them to have a mobile credit card processing system that could be easily integrated with their POS system.

The SalesVu Decision

After “scouring” the internet for iPad POS providers and looking into Shopkeep, Fontenot came across SalesVu.

“Initially, we were drawn to SalesVu because of the mobile payments rate but then discovered it also came with a free restaurant POS app,” said Fontenot. “After downloading the app and ensuring it would work for us, we fell in love with its ease of use and ability to instantly change anything within the system remotely.”

ACL appreciated that it did not take long to get the POS system setup.

Fontenot’s favorite feature is the reporting tab because it gives him key insights into ACL that he would otherwise be guessing at.

“Best part is, as we grow, so does the system,” said Fontenot.

The Results

“SalesVu iPad POS is a critical component of our business because it allows us to efficiently manage inventory, monitor our sales, determine how much we need to cook, easily train anyone to use it, take it with us from site to site, immediately make changes and update the system without waiting for overnight downloads; the list just goes on,” said Fontenot.

A Cajun Life has saved an estimated $1,000 upfront and several thousand dollars/year ongoing. According to Fontenot, those numbers are based on ongoing monthly fees of similar services and additional fees for the merchant.

“I don’t think we would be as successful as we currently are especially since we run part-time,” said Fontenot. “My gut tells me our waste would have been astronomical and getting ready for taxes near impossible.”

“We are totally satisfied with the product and it has blown us away since we started using it,” said Fontenot. “We have been asked by so many people, business owners and even customers what we use and we have referred them all to SalesVu.”

Thanks for your support, A Cajun Life; we’re so exciting that you chose SalesVu’s POS system!

Vodka on Vacation Anyone? See How our iPad POS System Helps This Michigan Distillery

The Company

Northern Latitudes Distillery (NLD) is a small distillery on the Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan. NLD distills vodkas from wheat; Ice Dunes Vodka and Michigan sugar beet sugar; Deer Camp Vodka; horseradish vodka, Apollo Horseradish Vodka; Limoncello di Leelanau and many more. Almost everything NLD makes will sit in charred American oak barrels for at least 2 years, though some will be bottled immediately and sold as Michigan Dogman Moonshine. In addition to their spirits, NLD sells barware, glassware and logo clothing.

NLD has a 3,000 square foot tasting room boasting a large tasting bar where they give free tastings of their spirits. Additionally, they have a bar where they create unique cocktails using their products.

“We are always creating our own cocktails; it’s fun to research and mix the old-time cocktails that were popular before and during Prohibition, too,” said Owner Mandy Moseler.

The Needs

Northern Latitudes needed a versatile POS system that had the flexibility to be moved around as they change and grow.

“It needs to be used by us literally as we walk around the distillery to take care of our customers quickly so they don’t have to wait in line,” said Moseler.

Lake Leelanau, the home of NLD, is known for its beauty and wineries, making a large portion of NLD’s customer-base vacationers. These customers don’t want to spend their vacation time waiting in line to spend their hard-earned money.

“They want to come into our distillery, enjoy themselves and then be off to the next adventure,” said Moseler. “For us to be able to take care of them quickly and efficiently is super important!”

Also, they need the ability to track inventory easily as that is particularly essential for a new business.

The SalesVu iPad POS Decision

NLD wanted a well-encrypted, easy-to-use system that tracks inventory and sales for a new business in a lean economy; SalesVu met these needs.

“We know right now which spirits are selling quickly and that dictates what Mark [NLD co-owner] will be distilling next,” said Moseler.

Before joining the SalesVu movement, NLD looked into Square and several other POS systems.

The Results

By starting their business with SalesVu’s POS system, NLD saved $6,000 upfront and are able to be mobile and customer-friendly.

SalesVu iPad POS System at The Candy Wrapper

The Candy Wrapper (TCW) is a bulk custom gift and candy store in Lubbock, Texas. TCW needed an iPad POS to maximize sales and efficiency during the holiday season.

“Being a bulk candy store, we needed to be able to use a decimal point to accurately get people rung up; there were many apps out there, only a few that would incorporate a decimal for us to put in weight for a sales total,” said Tiffany Jablonsky, co-owner of The Candy Wrapper.

In addition to researching SalesVu’s retail POS, TCW also considered using Shopkeep and Imonggo.

“We researched apps for our business knowing we wanted to move to an ipad register,” said Jablonsky. “We found [SalesVu] through online reviews. We were using Square for credit card processing and an old offline register without inventory tracking.”

The Candy Wrapper enjoys the app’s ease of use, employee tracking and the ability to use the POS system in one spot in addition to mobility.

“We like all of the different reports you can look at for the store to track what is selling and when,” said Jablonsky. “We also deliver and it is handy for deliveries.”

For more information about The Candy Wrapper, like their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter.
